Why the numbers here are different
We time the frame, not the intent
Most sites start their clock when their code changes the colour. The browser does not show that change until the next frame is painted, one or two frames later. We start at the painted frame, which reads slower and is true.
The median, not the mean
One bad round should not define you. Reaction time is scored on the median of five attempts, which is the number you would score again tomorrow.
Your device, its own league
Touchscreens really are slower than mice. Rather than inventing an offset, we rank you against people using the same kind of input.
